My Advice for Angie Rogers Class

My advice to you for Angie Roger’s class is the list provided below. If you master this list, you will be guaranteed an A in her class.

  1. Take her class and do not drop it!! You can get an easy A if you do the work she wants
  1. Do your blogs every week. Pick a night to always do the weekly blogs on. I picked Sunday, just because. This way you do not have to play catch up on your blog post because it can be very time consuming if you try to do them all at once.
  1. When you do your group project, pick people that you think will be fun and want to complete there work. My group had fun at our meetings and we even had cookouts and meals together.
  1. Get an early start on your portfolio!! Angie will help you with it and will walk you step by step through the process. Get all your documents and links together and she will easily show you how.
  1. Turn your assignments in on time. It is the first step to getting an A.
  1. Lastly, Angie wants all of her students to get an A. She wants you to come in for help and is willing to help you. This is the teacher that you want for English 304! Take Angie! She is great!

My Group

My group’s name is Rethink Yo Style. It consists of five people. We have two architecture majors, one marketing major, one management major, and one finance major. As you can see, our group is very well rounded. As a group we decided that it would be most beneficial to divide all of our assignments up into individual task according to our majors. Each member would work on their individual part separately. At the next week’s meeting, we would collaborate together what each of us had done. Some individual work may have needed more help that others, but our group had no problem with offering to help each other out. We got every task done together as a group. In fact we met one week as a part of our weekly meeting at Jessica’s house for a cookout and to work on our proposal. Not only did we get a lot of the proposal done, we learned more about each other. I can say that our group is very close and we would want to work together again. I really like my group!

Mock Interveiw

I thought my mock interview went very well. I actually was not worried about my interview at all because fortunately, I have grown up my whole childhood life around talking with other people. As a kid I would talk to many people that were generations older than me and therefore I am very comfortable with talking to older people. If I was to be interviewed by someone who was older than me but in my same generation, the interview would be more difficult. For some reason, I get extremely nervous around my peers. I am guessing there will be a 70% chance that the real interviewer for my first job will be someone in a different generation than myself.

Two thing that helped me have a successful interview was having my materials ready early and being on time for the interview. Both of theses helped boost my confidence prior to meeting with Angie. I felt smart, organized and ready to go. By setting myself up for a successful interview on the front end, allowed me to stay calm and answer any questions with careful thought.

Overall I am very impressed with my interview. As easy as I thought the interview was , I still need more practice. I need to be prepared to answer any questions that one might ask. More practice can never be a bad thing.

My Favorite City

This week, I have the opportunity to write about anything I want. I have decided to write about where I am from. I am from Nashville, Tennessee. Nashville is a great place to live. It is located in the central basin which means that the city is surrounded with hills and mountains. Nashville is the capital of Tennessee. It filled with history and country music. The Country Music Hall of Frame, Predators Hockey Arena, Titans Station, Ryman Auditorium, and most country bars are all within walking distance of each other all downtown by the river. Downtown Nashville even still has some old cobblestone streets and restored civil war forts. Minutes from downtown Nashville is the suburbs. The traffic is not bad and easy to understand for visitors. Don’t get me wrong, Nashville is not a small city. In fact it consists of more than 545,000 people just in one county! From where I live, in the suburbs, I am surrounded by four different malls and many different areas of town. It takes no more than fifteen to twenty minutes to get to each different part of town. Downtown, depending on the route you take, takes approximately twenty minutes. I consider this to be perfect timing especially since you go through a lot of traffic to get there. I am very proud to say that I am from Nashville. I am eager to finish college and go back to a city that I love. I can’t wait to experience Nashville when I am twenty- one and also to experience it as an older woman. I am thinking about renting a house near downtown with some friends and going to graduate school in Nashville. I love my city and I am eager to learn more about it. There is much I really don’t know.

Favorite Presentation

My favorite presentation was Stacey’s. She was very passionate about her presentation and it was very well thought out. I really liked all the facts she told the class about Boulder. Every thing she said held my attention and it made me want to go there. I have been to many cites in the area such a Aspen, Denver, Telluride, Cresten Butte, Gunnison, and Montrose, however, I have never been to Boulder. I really like Colorado and as you can tell, I have been to many other cities in the state. Stacey is right about how Clemson, South Carolina is a complete different culture. It fascinates me that Stacey chose to come to a small town across the United States for college. I can image that South Carolina was a complete culture shock and I admire her for staying with it. She seems like a well traveled person and I admire that also. Overall, Stacey’s presentation was very well done. A+ to Stacey.

What does Clemson mean to you?

The past few weeks I have been thinking about what Clemson means to me. I take a lot of pride in my school and am very proud to say that I am a Clemson tiger. When I accepted to attend Clemson, I not only committed to a school, but also to a family. Being a part of the Clemson Tradition and the Clemson Family is further more than I expected out of a college experience.

Clemson excels in academics, athletics, and the mission of being one student body. I am very proud to tell anyone that I am a Clemson student. I obviously love my school and want the best for it. I believe in giving back to what has been given to me. I encourage every Clemson student and alumni to be a member of IPTAY, the Clemson Fund, and the Student Alumni Association. If someone can not be a member of all three, at least start out with one. All three of theses help make ones’ time a Clemson memorable. I am a personally a member of all three. I want to give back to the academics of Clemson (Clemson Fund), the athletics of Clemson ( IPTAY) and the support network that holds the university together (SAA). Many fans that did not even attend Clemson give money to IPTAY because IPTAY is what funds scholarships money for student - athletes together and allow sporting events to even occur. It’s also the fans that help make Clemson the family it is today.

When I think of the word ‘CLEMSON’, I think of many things. I think of Solid Orange, tiger Pride, the tiger, Howard’s Rock, the hill, football games, purple, an academic of excellence, and the library bridge. Theses are some of many things that come to mind.

What do you think of when you see the word CLEMSON? What does Clemson mean to you?

In Ten Years

In ten years, I will be thirty years old. It’s hard to predict what my life would be like in ten years, but if I had to image, I would hope to have accomplished many things.

By age thirty, I hope to have found my husband. I want to marry someone that will want to keep loving me and supporting me no matter what comes in our path. I think it is important for a relationship to be based off of the theory of respect and love. These are some of the qualities that I look for in someone.

Secondly, I want to have children. As of right now, I want 4 children. I know that is financially a handful and a lot of hard work, but I have always dreamed of having a big family. It is such gift to raise a child to be the best person that they can become. I want to be apart of making that happen. I am a person that likes a lot going on, so having a big family would fit me.

I also would like to be a volunteer for the city that I live in. I would like to help raise money for good causes in my community and help others that don’t have as much as me.

As far as working, well, I really would love to be a realtor. I am fascinated with houses and interior design. Clemson is not the best University for real estate, so I am hoping to start real estate school after I get my Bachelors in Management in Clemson.

Lastly, I want to be a better Godly Women. I used to practice my religion much more when I was younger, but as I got older, time got restricted and going to church has not been my first priority. It’s sad to say, but it’s only the truth. I am a woman whom believes in always telling the truth because it’s the right thing.

I really have no clue what my life would be like in ten years, however no one else knows that answer either. Maybe all of theses things will come true? It’s only me that can make them happen.

WEB 2.0

I personally thought Web 2.0 was really cool, however a little fast to follow. It was not that it was necessarily too fast, but that it was just a lot of information and too many different things going on all at once. The video got me thinking so hard about the things going on from the beginning of the video that I found myself not really paying attention to the message towards the end.

This video does do a good job at informing viewers on how much we rely on technology. It also shows how fast and easy it is to connect with resources as well as people all over the world.

It is amazing to me how much technology effects our lives today. Not being a full time women in the workforce, I still use technology in almost everything I do. Sending an e-mail to a friend or calling my parents at home or having my alarm clock wake me up, its all technology that I use on a daily basis. I can't even imagine how much more I will use technology once I am out of school and have a full time job. This video makes you wonder.

A Little About Me

Hi everyone! For those that don't know me, my name is Hilary. I am from Nashville, Tennessee and a Junior at Clemson. I am majoring in Management and minoring in Advertisement. I am not exactly sure what I want to do with my Management degree, but I am interested in going to Graduate School to get my Masters in Real Estate. I love design and houses. I plan on buying houses to stage them and then resell them for a greater price than bought. I think this occupation will be time consuming but flexible. I want a flexible job so I can raise my children. I want to be able to spend time with my children and to give them the life I never had.

At Clemson I dedicate most of my time to two activities outside of academics. I am on the Clemson Women's Rowing team and a Greek Life sorority member. Between the two, it takes a great deal of time management to balance your academics with athletics and have a social life, but somehow I do it. I do take pride in what I do at Clemson and I take pride in being a Tiger as well. Being an athlete for a University that I love is an incredible amount of work and dedication, however I would never not appreciate the experience I get.

I have three amazing roommates. They are mature and know what is best for them in their life. Each of us have our own personal struggles, but we would not be all keeping our head as high as we do without each other. We all have been in many hard and uncomfortable situations, but what can be better than a roommate that supports each other and loves each other for who they are, rather than whom they are not.

If you want to know more about me, then you should ask. I am not going to waste more words about myself, because I rather get to know you than tell you about me. That's all I have for now. Until next blog, Go TIGERS!!
